Reporting to the President of Sonova US, the role of Director, Growth Initiatives is designed to work with business partners in Marketing, local Group Companies and Sales to achieve growth breakthroughs by improving performance enablement.  As Growth Leader you will promote and facilitate diagnosis of work flow impediments and wastes throughout sales & marketing and provide expert counsel on appropriate tools to eliminate them.   


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:    

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or equivalent
  • Master’s Degree in Business or equivalent
  • Min. 5 years of commercial or marketing experience with demonstrated success
  • Process-driven - strong continuous process improvement mind-set and experience.
  • Self-starter – must be able to proactively drive evolution of Sonova commercial processes
  • Results orientation - must deliver results.
  • Technical excellence - must possess the experience and technical skills necessary to be seen as credible in Sonova by peers and managers.
  • Communication—must be able to effectively communicate in both written and verbal forms.
  • Hands-on & quick study. Must be hands-on and detail-oriented but also able to see the big picture. Will need to be a quick study who can rapidly adapt to Sonova culture and gain the confidence of the organization.
  • High energy, self-starter. This person will be high energy and able to handle conflict. Will be an independent worker, capable of operating in a fast-moving, ever changing environment and able to effectively deal with difficult situations.
  • Teamwork - must be able to lead team of employees from multiple disciplines.
  • Influencing skills - must be able to inform, convince, persuade others to act on key initiatives.
  • Customer focused with business acumen. Must be very customer focused and have strong interpersonal and communications skills. Ability to accurately assess key business metrics and situations from a “general manager’s” point of view.
  • Global orientation. Has experience from working in global environment, including markets like US, Germany, and China. Evidence of being able to communicate to all levels of the organization including those where English is not their primary language.
  • Experience managing people and projects.
  • Commercial process expert. Customer Segmentation, Funnel Management, Value Selling, Pricing & Margin Management, Marketing disciplines, and many other. Has been exposed to and participated in a wide variety of training and facilitation environments on growth tools.
  • Familiar with continuous improvement. Background in Continuous Improvement, Business Process Improvement, Six Sigma Black Belt, Business Transformation, Change Management.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Contribute to developing a Sonova tool-box of growth tools. Including for example, Market Visibility & Segmentation, Key Account Process selling, Campaign Development and Execution, Digital Marketing, Lead Management / Qualification, Sales Funnel Creation and Management, Sales Coverage, and Direct and Indirect Sales Effectiveness. Tools for product ideation, product definition based on strong voice-of-customer and UX design, and product launch, also very much in scope.
  • Manage funnel of growth initiatives. Assist commercial leaders to create a prioritized roadmap (the right sequence and approach to drive sustainable results).
  • Lead Kaizens to help drive accelerated change. Schedule, charter, and facilitate one-week change projects aka Kaizens. Ensure effective sustainment of results and support problem solving as needed to close gaps to targets. Drive ever-improving results by leveraging commercial process tools, consulting skills, and change management to radically improve processes.
  • Continuously improve performance fundamentals. Train and install foundational capabilities in Strategy deployment, Action Planning, and Key Performance Indicator (KPI) management. Work with central and regional organizations to create KPI sheets and Visual Management to sustain commercial process improvement. Work with commercial teams to install and drive good daily management (recurring reviews at optimal cadence) and proactively lead problem solving processes to find root causes and countermeasures for driving / delivering growth plans and resolving commercial and transactional performance issues.
  • Continuously elevate commercial processes. Support Sales, BU and Marketing leaders to deploy, improve, and sustain standard processes for key Sales, BU and Marketing processes in the areas of Customer Segmentation, Funnel Management, Value Selling, Pricing & Margin Management, Marketing disciplines, and more. Identify best practices, standardize and share these across regions and markets. Benchmark and incorporate best practices.
  • Continuously elevate product lifecycle management. Define and install ideation processes for the earliest stages of product definition and install strong voice-of-customer and UX design processes in support of product definition processes. Optimize or redesign product launch processes for impact and effectiveness,
  • Train & coach commercial leaders. Directly provide formal and informal training and coaching. Augment with other sources of training and coaching (Sonova programs, outside sources). Improve Sonova commercial training and facilitation by pursuing certification in commercial tools for yourself and others. Evaluate and approve other associates for tool certification.
  • Drive for results. Assist in achieving the Strategic Plan objectives and Key Performance Indicators (KPI) related to Sonova and specifically the global wholesale commercial organization priorities in collaboration with the respective business owners.
